News on Submission Process for Awards and Stages
ECMA 2011 – Charlottetown, PE April 14 – 17, 2011
It may seem like ECMA 2011 is still a piece away but things in our office have been hopping! Thanks to all your great feedback, we have been working closely with Sonicbids to drastically improve the awards and stages submission process. To address areas of confusion and submission roadblocks, as identified by you, we are engaged in:
- Creating a landing page with Sonicbids to clearly define all award categories and showcase opportunities.
- Streamlining the application page, so you won’t have to enter application information more than once.
- Managers with a roster of artists will be able to submit and manage materials with one simple login.
- Sonicbids will accept full album downloads thus eliminating the need to send physical product for jurors.
- Digitizing the adjudication process to ensure a smooth and seamless process for our jurors and record juror feedback for applicants.
- Dedicated support team to help with any application-related questions. The Sonicbids’ Community Team will walk you through any of the steps when submissions are open: http://www.sonicbids.com/support
ECMA is excited about our continued partnership with Sonicbids. In addressing your concerns with the Sonicbids process, we have gotten to know a solid group of people highly committed to empowering emerging artists. Our discussions over the past months to improve service to our members has been embraced fully by Sonicbids and is being executed now.
ECMA and Sonicbids have been remiss in highlighting some of the opportunities that exist beyond the ECMA submission process, with your musician profile and music housed in one centralized location. The Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit (EPK) allows you to quickly and easily connect with the opportunities around the world that are right for you. Check out their indie artist commitment here - http://www.sonicbids.com/about/commitment-indie-artists.aspx - and pay close attention to slide #5! We’ll be partnering with Sonicbids this year to provide cash grants to help export-ready ECMA members access performance opportunities both at home and abroad!
One important note about your concerns from last year -- You are under no obligation to maintain a paid membership with Sonicbids to make your ECMA submissions. If you’re not a member of Sonicbids yet, your ECMA submission will come with a trial Sonicbids membership. In addition, even if your Sonicbids membership is not active (trial elapses), your existing submissions for ECMA will remain active.
Some key points regarding submission process for ECMA 2011:
- Submissions for awards and stages will open on Monday, August 23 and will close on Friday, October 1. There will be no deadline extensions. The Awards & Stages Booklet will be available online in July, well in advance of the submission date.
- Album eligibility period for ECMA 2011 will be June 1, 2009 to October 1, 2010. Recordings must be released by October 1, 2010.
- To ensure early submissions we will announce a substantial early bird prize package with our submission guidelines.
Thank you again for your tremendous feedback. We always want to hear from you so we can improve our member services. Feel free to contact us anytime at kate@ecma.com or (902) 892-9040 ext 1.
