The Barra MacNeils, Ashley MacIsaac Added to ECMA at the Beach Line up

Red Gold: A Tribute to PEI Songwriting also featured

(Charlottetown) The East Coast Music Association, in conjunction with the Cavendish Beach Music Festival and Campbell Webster Entertainment, is pleased to announce that ECMA award winners the Barra MacNeils and Ashley MacIsaac will join Slowcoaster, Madison Violet, Terry Kelly and Tom Fun Orchestra for the first ever ECMA at the Beach as part of the 2010 Festival line-up. ECMA at the Beach will launch the first day of the Festival in beautiful Cavendish, PEI on Wednesday, July 7.

"The line-up for July 7th features an incredible array of East Coast talent and we are excited to be building a very entertaining day for ECMA at the Beach,” says ECMA Executive Director Su Hutchinson. “We are thrilled to be part of this Festival and revel in the opportunity to provide our member artists with such chances to perform to such a great audience.”

In addition to the Barra MacNeils and Ashley MacIsaac, July 7th will also feature Red Gold: A tribute to PEI songwriting featuring award-winning PEI singers Meaghan Blanchard and Dennis Ellsworth. Matt Putnam, musical director for Red Gold, describes Ellsworth and Blanchard as the cornerstones for this first time project. “The idea was to have two strong front people, with a group taken from the pool of great island musicians. I want it to feel like a 'group' as opposed to a backing band.”

ECMA at the Beach is the first summer ECMA programming and will take place at the beautiful Cavendish Beach festival site, where the greatest Country music stars perform in front of tens of thousands of music fans every July in Prince Edward Island. The concept of ECMA at the Beach was created by Campbell Webster Entertainment who brought the Festival and ECMA together in a partnership to produce it. "The idea for this event came almost naturally: the number one winter music event in Atlantic Canada meets the number one summer music event in Atlantic Canada," says Webster.

This year's Cavendish Beach Music Festival includes international superstars Keith Urban, Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum during the five-day Festival. ECMA at the Beach is FREE of charge to all pass holders of the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.

“ECMA at the Beach is such a great fit for our Festival,” said Cavendish Beach Music Festival producer Jeff Squires. “We are the number one Atlantic Canadian music event at one of the most beautiful oceanfront settings in Atlantic Canada. Quality music, great fans, and an incredible time are what we are all about. Having East Coast artists as part of that only makes it more of a genuine East Coast party.”
